Dr. Robert E. (Bob) Scott, age 89, a longtime Monroe dentist, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Cremation and interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park next to his wife of 57 years who passed away in 2005. Bob Was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 26, 1925 to Harry and Claudia Scott. He graduated from Detroit's Northwestern High School in 1943 and enlisted in the United States Navy that same year. Robert served as an aviation Radioman in the Caribbean and in Pacific Theaters during WWII. Upon his discharge in 1946, he studied at the University of Michigan earning his Dentistry Degree in 1952. Bob met and married Margaret "Peg" Andrews in 1948. After graduation from dental school they moved to Monroe in 1952 and operated their practice for 40 years. Bob was a dedicated Monroe community citizen and was a valued member and contributor to many organizations. He served 50 years with the Monroe Rotary Club, past member and secretary of Monroe Public School Board of Education, President's Club of the University of Michigan, Board of Directors Peoples Federal Savings & Loans serving as chairman, past president of the Monroe Golf & Country Club and the Monroe County Dental Society. Member of the Monroe Club and North Cape Yacht Club; served as Division Chair of the Monroe YMCA construction campaign and the United Way of Monroe County; long time member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. An avid sailor both on ice and water who enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was well known for his restoration of classic automobiles which included a 1936 Cord and 1933 Auburn. He was an avid member of the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg organization and the Classic Car Club of America participating and acquiring awards for his restoration projects. Bob is survived by sons William James (Martha) Ely, MN, David Robert (Linda) Lambertville, MI, Thomas Andrew (Anne) , Monroe and Michael Gregory , Monroe; 7 grandchildren: 7 great-grandchildren: close friend Lucille Vuich. He was preceded in death by parents, wife Peg, sister Margaret(Farr) Underwood and brother David (Madalon) Scott. Friends may call from 4 - 8 PM Sunday at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road in Monroe. Services will commence at 11 AM Monday, December 22, 2014 At. St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Monroe. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Church or Salvation Army.
