Robert R. Prewitt, 80 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Seacrest Rehab and Nursing Center in Monroe. He had been in declining health for the year.
Born October 22, 1943 in Monroe, Bob was the son of the late Elmer and Annabelle (Gray) Prewitt. He attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1962 graduate of Monroe High School.
On June 13, 1964, Bob married his beloved wife, the former Brenda G. Fletcher, in Monroe. Sadly, she preceded him in death on November 18, 2007 after 43 years of marriage.
Bob worked as a union carpenter, spending most of his career working at Fermi II, from which he retired.
Bob was a faithful member of Bible Fellowship Church in Monroe, where he served as a worship leader and as board secretary. He enjoyed portrait painting, landscaping, writing poetry, hunting, and had a fondness for cats and kittens. Bob will be remembered as a kind and Christian man who always helped those in need. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with family.
Bob is survived by his sister, Cynthia E. Ferguson – Vaslo of Monroe, a brother-in-law, Gary Morgan of Monroe, a sister-in-law, Faye Fletcher, two nieces: Amy E. Boyd and Rhonda M. Weithman, two nephews: John Ferguson and Jamie Fletcher, two great nieces: Jennifer Morgan and Bella Boyd, and his kitty, Checkers. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Bob was preceded in death by an infant son, Randall Ray Prewitt, a sister Wanda Morgan, and his father and mother-in-law, George and Lola Fletcher.
In keeping with Bob's wishes cremation has been held.
Memorial services and visitation have been set for Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm followed by a memorial service celebrating Bob's life at 4:30 pm at Bible Fellowship Church in Monroe. Rev. Philip Wylie will officiate.
