Obituary

Robert G. Leonard, 80 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 3:00 AM in his home with his beloved wife at his side. Bob was born August 11, 1928 in Monroe the son of the late Dee M. and Gladys (Smith) Leonard. Bob was a 1946 graduate of Monroe High School. On August 19, 1955 Bob married his beloved wife the former Geneva M. Luse at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Blissfield, MI. Bob was a self employed farmer. Bob's memberships included St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he was an usher and served on various boards and committees, life member of Monroe Lodge #27 F&AM, life member of River Raisin Chapter #22 where he was a former High Priest, life member of the Monroe Commandry #19. Bob served on the Frenchtown Planning Commission for many years. He enjoyed antique collecting and was an avid collector of Carnival Glass. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Geneva, his loving son Daniel E. (Virginia) Leonard of Omak, WA, his cherished grandson Adam R. (Jennifer) Leonard of Spokane, WA, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by his brother Donald Leonard. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 PM and Tuesday 3-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Evans C. Bentley will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. The Masonic Lodge #27 F&AM will conduct a service on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul's United Methodist Church Endowment or Scholarship Fund or Gideon's International.
