Robert G. Green, 86 years of Monroe, MI passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at 9:17 PM in his home. Bob was born June 11, 1920 in Lima, OH, the son of the late Walter C. and Alice (Carraher) Green. A 1938 graduate of Lima Central High School, Bob went on to earn his degree in mechanical engineering from the Detroit Institute of Technology. On June 28, 1941 in Lima, OH. Bob married Edna M. Meyer, sadly she preceded him in death on November 25, 2004. Bob served his country honorably during World War II in the United States Navy. After his service in World War II Bob worked for Packard Automotive then went on to work in the Suspension Division of Eaton, Yale and Towne both in Detroit, MI. In 1968 Bob and Edna moved to Monroe where Bob was named Vice President of Engineering at Monroe Auto Equipment. Bob then went on to work for ITT as their Director of Robotics until his retirement in 1985. Bob was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, The Society of Automotive Engineers and the Monroe Senior Citizens where he served as a board member. Bob had a lifelong love of food, fishing, and Morel Mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed many years of good times shared with family and friends at their cottage at Caseville, MI. Bob is survived by 3 loving sons; Robert W. (Joann) Green of Harwich, MA, Thomas G. (Joann) Green of Ann Arbor, MI and Daniel J. (Julie) Green of Wadsworth, IL. Bob is also survived by 10 cherished grandchildren and 4 cherished great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday from 3-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home. On Saturday, March 10, 2007 he will lie in state at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church from 8:30 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating his life at 9:30 AM. Fr. Jack Quinlan pastor of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. His family has requested memorial donations be given to St. John The Baptist Catholic Church.
