Robert P. Clukey, age 80, of Monroe, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023 at ProMedica Monroe Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Bob was born September 27, 1942 in Bangor, Maine; he was the son of James R. and Delvina M. (Binette) Clukey. He married Bonnie J. Baker March 16, 1966 in Eglin AFB.
He served his country in the US Air Force from January 24, 1963 until his honorable discharge January 23, 1967. He served overseas in both Okenowa and Vietnam during his enlistment.
Bob was raised in Buffalo, NY, he was a 1960 graduate of Clarence High School in Clarence, NY and then attended Erie Tech School Williamsville, NY.
He was an inspector for Ford Motor Company Woodhaven Stamping Plant; retiring on November 1, 2008 after 41 years of service.
Bob was a member of Bethany Eagles Nest Community Church and Monroe Area Cloud Busters. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, tending to his pets and stray pets, especially his poodle, Coco. He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and taking them fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie; six children, James M. Townsend of Monroe, Robert P. (Rebecca) Clukey, Jr. of LaBelle, FL, Roger (Robin) Clukey of Smithfield, VA, Jeffrey M. Clukey of New York City, Mary R. (Greg) Reynolds of Monroe and Michelle E. (Steve McKinstray) Brehm of Monroe; three siblings, James L. (Peg) Clukey of Buffalo, NY, David Clukey of Springfield, VA and Carole (Howard) Weed of Carmel, NY; brother-in-law, Al Beyers of Grand Island, NY; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Diana Hoffmeister and a grandson, Allan Brehm.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 11 a.m. until funeral services at 2 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road, Monroe, MI. Pastor Mike Baker, Bob's nephew, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, with military honors provided by VFW Post 1138, Monroe.
