Richard H. Krug, age 81 of Monroe, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023 in his home. He had been in declining health for six months.
Born March 10, 1942 in Monroe, Richard was the son of the late Howard and Florine (Klaus) Krug. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1960 and married Linda I. (Webb) Davis on December 9, 1967 at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Together they raised three children.
Richard was a life-long farmer and former custodian at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. He served as an usher for 60 years and formerly served on its Finance Committee. He loved his Lord and family, was fond of farm tractors, and had a soft spot for animals.
Richard is survived by his wife Linda; two children, John R. (Rachael) Krug of Monroe and April F. (Mike) Palmer of Temperance, MI; sister, Shirley Grassley of Monroe; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn I. Beste.
Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Richard will lie in state at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church where services will begin at 11 a.m. The church pastor, Rev. D. Lee Cullen, Jr. will officiate, followed by burial at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Memorial donations are suggested to the church or Monroe County 4-H.
