Reba Mauney

Reba Pratt Mauney, 93 years, of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 5:55 PM under the loving and tender care of the staff at Magnum Care of Monroe. Born February 18, 1920 in Knoxville, TN, Reba was the daughter of the late John Andrew and Mary Emily (Drummer) Arms. Reba attended Carter High School in Strawberry Plains, TN. While living in Tennessee, Reba was a member of Lyons Creek Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. Reba worked as a shipping clerk at Knox Department in Knoxville. On November 5, 1937, Reba married Henry O. Pratt, Jr. Sadly he preceded her in death on July 2, 1962. Reba then married William D. Mauney on September 20, 1963. He too preceded her in death in 1984. Reba moved to Monroe in 1978 from Knoxville and became a member of the First Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Reba was a wonderful homemaker and made her home at River Park Plaza in Monroe for over 25 years. Reba enjoyed writing poetry and stories and doing genealogy. More than anything Reba loved her family. Reba is survived by two loving daughters: Rose Anne (L.C.) Nisley of Monroe and Sherry Lynn (Charlie) Brennan of Centreville, VA, four cherished grandchildren: Brian (Stancy) Nisley and Eric (Loree) Nisley both of Monroe, Chris (Anne) Coughlin of Centreville, VA, and Melissa Coughlin of Redondo Beach, CA, five treasured great grandchildren: Matthew Nisley, Justin Williams, Ansley Coughlin, Jack Coughlin and Piper Coughlin, a special nephew: Dr. Boyd Lee (Marcella) Burris of Chevy Chase, MD, and special friends: Cecil and JoAnn Nisley. In addition to her parents and husbands, Reba was preceded in death by a sister Blanche Burris in 1995. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 11:00 AM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe where funeral services celebrating her life will be held that afternoon at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Dr. Kenneth Dunn, retired pastor of First Baptist Church will officiate.
