Raymond R. Eggly, Age 78, of Monroe, MI passed away Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 10:30 PM in the Lutheran Home after a lengthy illness. Ray was born November 1, 1929, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Fred and Mary Eggly. Ray was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic High School in Mt. Clemens, MI. On December 2, 1950 Ray married Mary J. Volpe in Mt. Clemens. Sadly she preceded him in death on January 2, 1996. Ray was employed as a supervisor for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, now DTE Energy, for 36 years, retiring in 1988. Ray was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe and a former member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Westland, MI. Ray was an active member of the Lutheran Layman's League. Ray enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, music, and playing cards. Ray moved to the Monroe area in 1998 and was a former resident of Norman Towers. Ray is survived by 4 beloved children; Joseph S. (Susan) Eggly of Pleasant Ridge, MI, David M. (Diane) Eggly of Bainbridge, WA, Eric R. (Sandra Santini) Eggly of Monroe, MI and Cecilia Urton of Sanford, FL, his brother Chet Bronkowski of Howell, MI, 9 cherished grandchildren and 5 treasured great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home. On Wednesday, January 16, 2008 he will lie instate at Grace Lutheran Church from 9:00 AM until funeral services celebrating his life at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Ronald C. Schultz will officiate. Interment services will be private. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
