Obituary

Randall Fretwell, age 60, of Monroe, MI passed away Friday, July 10, 2009 at 1:53 PM in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, where he had been since being hit by a car on July 7, 2009 in Monroe. Upon his death Randy's wishes were carried out and Randy became a Gift Of Life Donor. Randy was born January 11, 1949 in Detroit, MI the son of the late Julie Ayers – Ward. Randy moved to Monroe in 1961 and was a 1967 graduate of Monroe High School. Randall served his country in the US Army as a Military Policeman from 1969 to 1970. For his honorable service Randy received the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. After his discharge from the Army Randy returned to school and received his a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and a master's degree from Toledo University. Randy worked as a Laborer and was a member of Laborer's Local #465 in Monroe. Randy retired in 2007. Randy's favorite past time was spending time being online on his computer. Randy, who was known as "Kharis" made numerous friends by chatting online, he especially excelled at online trivia. Randy also enjoyed reading. Randy is survived by 10 cousins; Deborah Fortner, Doug and Dan Ayers, Edward Pendleton, Mary Ellen Hensley, and Mike, Wayne, Terry, Rick and Brenda Burchett, 2 best friends; Gary Bogadain and Eric Jenkins and numerous other friends. In addition to his mother, Randy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Morgan and Lizzie (Webb) Ayers who helped raise him. Visitation will be held on Friday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Ike Pope will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park where the VFW Post 1138 will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to the Gift Of Life.
