Quince Pettway, 82 years, resident of Monroe, MI since the 1970's, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 5:15 PM in his home. Quince was born October 11, 1927 in Wilcox County, AL the son of the late Golden and Mary Belle (Warren) Pettway. On February 18, 1949 Quince married his beloved wife the former Gabriella Mae Tolbert in Alabama. Sadly, she preceded him in death on October 9, 1999. Quince was employed as a carpenter in the construction industry from which he retired. Quince enjoyed working in his yard, tending to his garden and fishing. Quince is survived by his 6 loving children; Virgil Pettway, James Pettway, Penny (Dennis) Hodrick, Elizabeth Pettway, Verna (Eugene) Hadnot, and Sharon Renee' Pettway all of Cincinnati, OH, 1 brother; Edward Pettway of AL, 5 sisters; Leola Tyson, Mary Lee Hall, Penny Rodgers, Romattie West and Ida Mae Dudley all of Alabama, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one on the way, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Quince was preceded in death by a son Quince Pettway Jr., 4 brothers; LeAllen and Cooper Mooney and Atmore and Joe Lewis Pettway and a sister Polly Bennett. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 10:00 AM until funeral services celebrating his life at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 12:00 Noon in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH.
