Obituary

Pitney D. Risden, 74, of Monroe, passed away at 6:44 AM, Monday, October 16, 2006 in the Mercy Memorial Hospital. He had been in poor health for 10 years and seriously ill for 6 months. He was born September 30, 1932 in Oneida, TN to James and Roxie (McGee) Risden. He moved to Monroe in 1950 from Tennessee, and on December 31, 1965, in Monroe, he married Betty J. Newby. He had worked at Jack's Garage in Maybee and also at Melton Motors in Southgate. "D" attended the 1st Wesleyan Church in Monroe and enjoyed music, especially Bluegrass. He leaves to mourn his wife, Betty, son Dale R. of Flat Rock, daughter, Patti A. (James) Mayes of Monroe, brothers, Jimmy (Shirley) of Monroe and Bill (Lynn) of Texas, sister, Mary Byrd of Monroe, and 2 grandchildren. Sadly, his parents, James Risden and Roxie Sexton preceded him in death along with 2 brothers, Willie and Jesse and 2 sisters, Besse Hilliard and Wilma Risden. Friends may call 1-8 PM Wednesday at the Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 AM Thursday. Rev. Jeffrey Luttrell of the 1st Wesleyan Church will officiate and burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery. Memorial gifts in his name may be given to the church.
