Pio "Paul" Knezevich, 86 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born October 29, 1935 in Monroe, Paul was the son of the late Milivoj and Mary (Utczai) Knezevich. Paul attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1953 graduate of Monroe High School.
Paul's first marriage was to Dolores A. D'Alessandri. In August of 1976 Paul married the former Charlene A. Wilburn at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Monroe. Sadly, she preceded him in death on December 15, 2018 after 42 years of marriage.
Paul began working, right out of high school, at the Monroe County Road Commission, he then went to work at Ford Motor Company's Woodhaven Stamping Plant, from which he retired as a welding and tool and die repairman. He also co-owned and operated Bob and Paul's Bar.
Paul attended St. George Serbian Orthodox Church. Paul was a "Jack of all trades" he built five homes in Monroe, something he was very proud of. He also took great pride in keeping his yard looking immaculate. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with family, he especially enjoyed his trips to Wampler's and Vineyard Lake's in the Irish Hills, as he and the family enjoyed water sports and lake life.
Paul is survived by his loving son, Paul J. (Sharon) Knezevich of Temperance, MI, two stepchildren: Keith (Renee) Bergmooser of Canton, MI and Cheryl Bergmooser Barbier of Monroe, 11 cherished grandchildren, 11 treasured great grandchildren and his last surviving sibling: Savo (Mary) Knezevich of Monroe.
In addition to his parents and wife, Charlene, Paul was preceded in death by a stepson Robert Bergmooser and eight brothers and sisters.
In keeping with Paul's wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 2 -7 pm at the River Raisin Banquet Hall, 8 N. Monroe St., Monroe, Michigan, 48162.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church.
