Obituary

Phyllis Mary Barron, age 71, made her way to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 10, 2025, after courageously battling illness for many years, under the care of an amazing home healthcare team, with her husband by her side.
Born January 16, 1954, in Monroe, she was the daughter of Vincent and Lucretia "Pat" (Petracca) Castiglione. Phyllis graduated in 1972 from Monroe High School and was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a loving wife to John Barron, whom she married in 1973.
Phyllis began her career at Mercy Memorial Hospital in the Registration Department, where she worked for 40 years before her retirement in 2017. She was known for her dedication and care in her role, and she developed lasting relationships with her colleagues and the many people she served.
Family was at the heart of her life. She fondly remembered growing up in a loving, large household as the oldest and only girl with four brothers. The bond they shared was unbreakable, and she cherished the closeness and support they maintained throughout her life. She especially loved spending time with her two children and four grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with joy and laughter. She also enjoyed bringing her loved ones together for annual holiday and summer parties full of love.
She is survived by her husband, John Barron; her mother, Pat Castiglione of Monroe; two children, Jeanette (Thomas) Haynes of Monroe and Jared (Jessica) Barron of Perrysburg, Ohio; four brothers, Vincent (Lynda) Castiglione, Dominick (Kim) Castiglione, Anthony (Tammy) Castiglione, and Joseph (Cheri Hoy) Castiglione, all of Monroe; and four grandchildren, Izzy, Liliana, Sophie, and Ethan.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Vincent Castiglione.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI.
