Pearl L. Smith, 89, of Monroe, passed away at 5:55 AM, Thursday, June 28, 2007 in The Lutheran Home, where she had been a resident for 6 years. She had been in poor health for 12 years. Mrs. Smith was born August 15, 1917 in Sterling, TN to William T. and Mary (Davis) Myers, they moved to Monroe in 1925 from Tennessee. She met Clarence T. Smith and they were married May 30, 1936 in Monroe, sadly, he preceded her in death, June 21, 1986. She was employed as a nurse's aid at Memorial Hospital for 20 years, retiring in October 1976. A member of Zion Lutheran Church, she enjoyed gardening, quilting, traveling, and was also a volunteer at Mercy Memorial Hospital in the x-ray department. Survivors include her sons, Allen (Roberta) of San Jose, CA and Robert of Felton, CA, daughters, Phyllis (Ronald) Feenstra of Houston, TX and Annette (Larry) Miller of Monroe, 21 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. A daughter, Carol Marinacci, sister, Elizabeth Turner, and brothers, John and George Branham, Floyd, Ray, and Richard Myers, also preceded her in death. Friends may call Monday at the Bacarella Funeral Home from 1-8 PM, where services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday. Rev. Gary Tryggestad of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate.
