Pearl L. Cooley, age 87, of Monroe, MI passed away at her daughter Kathy's home on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 2:58 AM surrounded by her loving family. Pearl had been in poor health for 3 years and seriously ill for the past year. Pearl was born November 16, 1920 in Middlesboro, KY the daughter of the late Mike and Molly (Turner) Coyne. Pearl's family moved to Monroe when she was a child. Pearl was a 1938 graduate of Monroe High School. On January 4, 1941 Pearl married Walter William Cooley in Napoleon, OH. Pearl and Walter celebrated 64 years of marriage before Walter's death on June 20, 2005. Pearl worked in the Monroe County Treasurer's office for 30 years retiring in 1983 as Deputy County Treasurer. Pearl was a member of Raisinville Baptist Church where she once served as Treasurer and Secretary of the Senior Citizens. Pearl loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed cooking for all of them. Pearl is survived by her loving children; Judith L. (Fritz) Sype and Kathleen A. Braunlich both of Monroe, MI. 6 cherished grandchildren; Karen Niemchick, Michael Straub, Colleen Vredeveld, Fred Sype, Melissa Allen and Stephanie Braunlich, and 11 treasured great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents Pearl was preceded in death by her brother Joe Coyne and her sisters Rachael Coch and Delores Ramey. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe. On Thursday, May 29, 2008 she will lie in state at Raisinville Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. The Rev. George B.A. Fountain pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe. Memorial contributions may be given to mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe or Raisinville Baptist Church.
