Obituary

Paul Randal Wilson, Jr., age 55, of Madison Heights, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Born on January 12, 1971, in Monroe, Michigan, Paul was the son of Paul Randal Wilson, Sr. and the late Peggy (Butler) Knight. He graduated from Monroe High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he spent many years working for Ford Motor Company in the Chicago area.

Paul had a lifelong passion for sports. If there was a game on television, chances are he was watching it—whether it was football, baseball, golf, or NASCAR. He was a devoted Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan and especially enjoyed fantasy football, where he shared many seasons of friendly competition with his cousin Joe Shinevarre, family, and friends.

Fiercely competitive in everything he did, Paul always played to win. Whether it was cheering on his favorite team, competing in fantasy football, or debating sports statistics, he loved the thrill of the game. Some of his happiest days were spent attending Detroit Tigers games with Lisa, cheering on their favorite team and making memories together at the ballpark.

Music was another constant in Paul's life. Wherever he was, there was usually music playing. He especially enjoyed live performances and loved spending evenings listening to his friend John Clawson perform at local venues.

Paul also shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Jet, his "little buddy," who faithfully enjoyed many late-night snacks by his side.

A quiet and reserved man, Paul wasn't always quick to smile, making those moments when he did even more meaningful. He showed his love through his actions—stepping outside his comfort zone to make others happy and always being there for the people he cared about. His loyalty, kindness, and love will never be forgotten.

Paul is survived by his loving girlfriend, Lisa Johnson; his father, Paul Randal Wilson, Sr.; his four daughters, Racheal English, Paige Wilson, Brooke Wilson, and Isabella Wilson; Lisa's three children, Ben Johnson, Sophia Johnson, and Gabe Johnson, whom Paul loved as his own; his granddaughter, Mackenzie English; his four sisters, Tara Kniffen, Lisa (James) Mygatt, Brandy (Phil) Runyon, and Mary (Lenny) Wheeler; his nieces and nephews, Josh Howard, Dylan Kelley, Kaleigh-Ann Jondro-Rose, Zachary Wilson, and Lucas Wilson; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy (Butler) Knight; his grandmother, Rachel "Fon" Butler; and his brother, Dwayne Wilson.

In accordance with Paul's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial visitation at Bacarella Funeral Home on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the memorial service begins at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Roy Southerland will officiate.

Following the service, family and friends are invited to continue sharing memories and celebrating Paul's life during a luncheon at Pete's Garage.

Though Paul left us far too soon, his love for family and friends, his passion for sports and music, and the simple joys of life—from Tigers games with Lisa to late-night snacks with Jet—will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply loved, profoundly missed, and never forgotten.
