Paul Henry Shaw, 63 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011 in his home with his loving family at his side and under the tender care of Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe.
Born September 28, 1947 in Monroe, MI, Paul was the son of the late George and Lois (Sutton) Shaw. Paul attended Jefferson High School.
After high school Paul entered the US Navy and served his country honorably and proudly from February 4, 1966 until October 31, 1969. For his heroism he received the National Defense Service Medal.
On March 16, 1984 in Monroe Paul married his beloved wife the former Shauna L. Duane.
Paul was employed by Sieb Plumbing and Heating in Monroe. Paul also worked as a carpenter in the Monroe area for various builders.
Paul was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and camping. Paul enjoyed playing darts and played in the Monroe County Mixed Dart League for 10 years. He also coached little league baseball in Monroe.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years Shauna, his step mother; Amelia C. Shaw of Monroe, 3 loving children; Jamison P. Sinclair of Greensburg, PA, Paul Shaw of South Carolina, and Nicole R. Sinclair of Newport, MI, 2 cherished grandchildren; Nicole and Tyler Kimberly, 4 brothers; Herbert (Barbara) Shaw of Fort Mohave, AZ, Donald "Butch" (Joan) Shaw of Hilo, HI, Edward Shaw of Monroe, and John (Nellie) Shaw of Monroe, 3 sisters; Millie Daniels of Monroe, June Hosch of Monroe and Barbara Inman of E. Bernstadt, KY. In addition to his birth parents Paul was preceded in death by 3 brothers; David, Willard "Tuffy" and Kenneth Shaw and his beloved mother in law Mary Leah Duane.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Roy Southerland pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist will officiate. The VFW Post 1138 will also conduct military honors at the funeral home.
