Obituary

Paul F. Lehmann, age 90 of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026 in his home.
Born January 9, 1936 in Toledo, OH, Paul was the son of the late Charles and Irma (Graff) Lehmann. He graduated from Toledo Central Catholic High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Puerto Rico. He proudly served his country from Nov. 17, 1954 until being honorably discharged on Aug. 16, 1956.
Not long after serving in the military, Paul married Rose Ann Roof on September 15, 1956 in Ida, MI. They resided in the Shoreland Community of Toledo, OH from 1956 until moving to Monroe in 1968.
In 1969, Paul and Rose opened their first store, Lehmann Pro Hardware in Maybee, MI. They sold that business in 1974 and soon opened Lehmann Ace Hardware in Monroe in 1975. They co-owned and operated that location until retiring in 1998.
They spent their winters at Sun-N-Fun Mobile Home Village in Fort Myers, FL for many years and enjoyed their summers living in Monroe in the old Rotary Club log cabin on N. Custer, which they remodeled to make their home.
Paul enjoyed golf, Notre Dame football, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He spent many Saturday afternoons hosting tailgate parties at Notre Dame football games with his motor home filled with family and friends. Lunch with family was frequent and always at Larson's, where, according to his great-granddaughter, Marley, "We're Members!"
Paul is survived by 6 children: Robert (Susan) Lehmann of Loudon, TN, Ed Lehmann of Crystal Falls, MI, Connie Lehmann of Irons, MI, Cathy (Ron) Nutt of Monroe, MI, Joe (Lori) Lehmann of Monroe, MI, and John Lehmann of New York, NY; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife Rose on June 9, 2023, and 2 brothers, William and Robert Lehmann.
A private Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church followed by private interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation and funeral arrangements.
