Obituary

Patrick J. Sonoras, age 82, of Monroe passed away Friday, September 23, 2022 under the care of Hospice.
Patrick was born March 14, 1940 in Newport, he was the son of John G. Sonoras and Edna (Zemke) Sonoras Pabst. He married Barbara K. Osgood October 21, 1961 at St. Michael Church. He and Barbara were high school sweethearts and were able to celebrate their 60th anniversary as a married couple before she passed away February 5, 2022.
He started his education at St. Charles School, Newport, was a 1959 graduate of Monroe High School and obtained his Associate's degree from Henry Ford Community College.
Pat was baptized and confirmed at St. Charles Church, Newport before becoming a member of St. Michael Church Monroe.
He spent 33 years as a skilled tradesman at Ford Motor Company Woodhaven plant before his retirement in 1996.
Pat was a member of Monroe Rod and Gun Club and volunteered for 15 years for the Monroe Township Fire Department.
He was a car enthusiast and did a complete self-restoration of a 1964 Buick Skylark. While growing up in Newport, he enjoyed hunting deer, pheasant and duck with his brothers and his uncle Felix Zemke. He also enjoyed deer hunting with his sons and family friends in the Upper Peninsula and sharing his fond memories of those trips.
He is survived by his beloved children, Dianna Sonoras of Bowling Green, Ohio, Julie Haddock of Perrysburg, OH, Scott (Theresa) Sonoras of Newport, MI, and Kurt (Lisa Janetski) Sonoras of Midland, MI; his treasured grandchildren: Alex Haddock, Nathan Sonoras, Amanda Sonoras, Zachary Sonoras, Megan "Alex" Sonoras, Karmon Catacosinos, and Nolen Catacosinos and a sister, Joan Sonoras of Newport, MI.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Sonoras, John G. "Greg" Sonoras and Charles X. Sonoras.
Private visitation and services have been held with interment at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Bacarella Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. The family would like to encourage those wishing to leave memories or condolences to visit the funeral home website listed below.
