Patrick Michael Leckler, 69 years, of Luna Pier, Michigan, made his journey to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 21, 2023 surrounded by family in his home.
Born February 13, 1954 in Toledo, OH, Pat was the only child of the late Louis A. and Virginia I. (McCove) Leckler. Raised Catholic, he attended St. Ann Catholic Church and Elementary School (now St. Martin de Porres), where he was baptized and confirmed Catholic. As a child he spent summers on the family farm working alongside his father. Patrick was a 1972 graduate of St. John Jesuit High School where he wrestled and was on the cheer team. Pat also enjoyed working in farming at the family business and went on to study horticulture at Michigan State University.
Pat enjoyed researching, investing; inventing; welding; fabricating; building; painting; sculpting; engineering; business and most importantly being a husband, father and grand-father. Anything Pat set out to do he would do; never letting anyone stand is his way. The happiest day of Pat's life came on September 3, 1976 when Pat married his beloved wife, Melanie A. Cousino, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe.
Pat's dad Louie took on the John Deere line of power equipment when Pat was just nine years old. He started working as a mechanic and salesman at the dealership where he enjoyed spending time getting to know his customers. He considered the sales department his "Happy Department" because sharing in the joy of seeing the smiles on customers faces, when they purchased a new machine, is what really made him happy.
Pat is survived by his beloved wife, friend and partner in the business of 47 years, Melanie. His two loving children: Adam Leckler of LaSalle and Shelby L. (Vincent) Diana of Point Place, OH, and his four cherished grandchildren: Ava, Arlo, Garren, and Teague.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 26th, 2023 from 1 – 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home located at 1201 S. Telegraph Rd, Monroe, Michigan, 48161. Funeral services celebrating Pat's life will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Michael Stewart officiating. Cremation will follow.
