Obituary

Patricia Marie Poupard, 69 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
Born March 30, 1954 in Monroe, Patricia was the daughter of Eugene E. and Alice D. (Lankauf) Poupard. Patricia was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Parish in Monroe, where she was baptized, confirmed, and attended elementary school. Patricia was a 1972 graduate of St. Mary Academy. She did her undergraduate work and was a 1976 graduate of the University of Michigan, B.A. in education. She went on to receive her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Toledo Law School in 1986.
Patricia began working as a law clerk for Collins and Blaha Attorneys at Law in Farmington Hills, she then returned to Monroe and worked for the law offices of Braunlich, Russow, and Braunlich. Her next opportunity was as General Counsel, Compliance Officer for Mercy-Memorial Hospital in Monroe, a position she held for 18 years. When the hospital was sold, she worked for Monroe County Legal Services. She then returned to Collins and Blaha Attorneys at Law, from which she retired in 2023.
Patricia was a long-time member and served on various boards in various capacities, including President, of The Monroe Exchange Club. She was very civic minded and gave back to the Monroe community by serving on numerous charitable organization boards including, the United Way, St. Mary Academy, and the Center for Healthy Aging.
Patricia was an enthusiastic fan of all University of Michigan athletics and enjoyed playing golf. Most of all Patricia enjoyed time spent with her immediate and extended family.
Patricia is survived by her beloved father, Eugene E. Poupard of Monroe; her ten loving siblings: Mary Leslie "Mickey" (Tim) Smith of Brownstown, Barbara (Phillip) Havens of Ormond Beach, FL, Marcel (Nancy) Poupard of Leesburg, FL, Jeffery (Jamie) Poupard of Monroe, Ann (David) Swartout of Monroe, Greg Poupard of Monroe, Elizabeth "Betsy" (Blake) Navarre of Henderson, NV, Lynn (James) Osbourne of Houston, TX, Marie (Paul) Weston of Sparta, MI, and Margaret "Peggy" (Joel) VanSlyke of Newark, DE as well as many numerous nieces and nephews.
Patricia was preceded in death by her mother, Alice, and a sister Jeanne Poupard.
In keeping with Patricia's wishes cremation has been held.
Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd, Monroe, Michigan, 48161, from 4 – 8 pm, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm. On Thursday, June 13, 2024 a Memorial Mass celebrating Patricia's life will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church at 11:00 am, family will greet friends beginning at 10:30 am. Private burial will be held later that day at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.
Memorial donations are suggested to Monroe Special Olympics, Holiday Camp, St. Mary Catholic Church, or ProMedica Monroe Cancer Center.
