Patricia Jean (Schloff) (Vella) Ferguson, age 64,of Monroe, passed away peacefully under the care of her loving family and friends at the Hospice of NW Ohio on Sunday, July 19, 2009. Pat loved gardening, CSI, her pets, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren and going to their activities. She always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in those beautiful blue eyes. She was the bravest, most courageous woman you will ever meet, and God shared her with us so we could learn by her example. She brought love and laughter to all who had the pleasure of meeting her. Pat was born in Fresno, CA on November 7, 1944 to Patrick J. and Doris A. (Laughlin) Schloff. She married Charles Vella in Detroit, MI on August 29, 1964. To this union was born Kimberly (Scott) Beard, Brian (Annette) Vella, Elizabeth DuCharme, and Robert Vella, who were more than happy to provide 7 loving grandchildren, Kenneth (Casie) Gibbons; Brian, Gregory, and Bradley Vella; Jessica Hughes, and Allison and Amanda Beard. Pat also adored her great-grandson, Kaiden Nicholas Gibbons. She is also survived by a brother Michael J. (Mary) Schloff and their sons Adam and Ryan, step-brothers and sisters, Steven (Debbie) Schaff, Sherry (Ron) Stalker, and Lisa Dixon (Zeek Snyder), along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends that all loved her so much. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Doris Schloff, her stepmother and best friend Joyce Schloff, her previous husband, Terry Lee Ferguson, and family and friends, all of whom she was comforted to know would be there to welcome her to Heaven. Friends may call 3-9 PM Wednesday at the Martenson Funeral Home, 10915 Allen Road, Allen Park. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM Thursday at Our Lady of the Angel's Catholic Church, Taylor. She will lie in state at the church from 10-11 AM. Burial will follow at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, Novi. The Bacarella Funeral Home, Monroe is in charge of arrangements. Memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society of Monroe County or Hospice of NW Ohio (Toledo).
