Patricia Ellen "Pat" DuBay, age 94 of LaSalle, MI, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Wellspring Lutheran Home with her family at her side.
Born October 9, 1928 in Denver, CO, Pat was the daughter of the late Clement Thomas and Mercy (Hendricks) Gleason. Before moving to Monroe in 1954 from Montclair, NJ, Pat earned a bachelor degree from Simmons College in Boston, MA. On May 12, 1956, she married Alfred Louis DuBay at St. Mary Catholic Church. Together they raised two children. He preceded Pat in death on April 12, 1981.
Pat had a long career in retail accounting, working for department stores in New Jersey, Toledo and Monroe, including the former Kline's Store in downtown. She then owned the former DuBay-Dorner Insurance Agency following her husband's death before retiring in 1984.
Pat was affectionately known as "Radio Grandma" to listeners of Happy Days Radio on Rewind 94.3 fm. She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she sang in the Resurrection Choir, counted collections, volunteered in their Christian Women's Group, and helped transport homebound parishioners to Mass. In addition to the church, Pat was a member of The Thrift Shop, Mercy Memorial Hospital Guild and Gift Shop volunteer, Monroe Bridge Club, and Monroe Garden Club. She also served on the United Way board and was a former member of the Monroe Golf and Country Club.
Pat is survived by a daughter, Michele (Kevin) DuBay-Cassidy of LaSalle, and grandson, Micah Cassidy of LaSalle. In addition to her parents and husband, Pat was preceded in death by a son, Tad DuBay, and a sister, Nancy Jeakle.
Pat will lie in state Friday, Aug. 18th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be concelebrated at 11 a.m. by the church pastor, Rev. Fr. David Burgard and Rev. Fr. Michael Anagbogu. Cremation will follow in accordance with her wishes. Pat's earthly remains will be laid to rest with her husband at St. Joseph Cemetery. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral and cremation arrangements.
