Obituary

Oliver J. "Frenchie" Anteau Sr., 83 years, formerly of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 11:44 PM surrounded by his loving family at the home of his daughter and son in law Sherie and Clay Readnour in Caro, MI. Frenchie had been in poor health since November. Frenchie was born November 30, 1924 in Toledo, OH the son of the late Refeard and Linda (Lewis) Anteau. Frenchie served his country during WWII as a United States Marine from January 10, 1942 until January 11, 1946 he served in the Pacific Theatre. On January 6, 1945 Frenchie married Hazel Whited in Pikeville, KY. Sadly she preceded him in death on July 2, 1989. For 19 years Frenchie worked as a printing pressman for Consolidated Paper Co in Monroe. He then worked for 18 years as a grinder for Eaton Foundry in Vasser, MI, from which he retired. Frenchie was a life member of VFW Post 1138, NRA, American Legion, and the National Wildlife Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid collector of knives. Frenchie is survived by his beloved children; Oliver J. (Marie) Anteau Jr. of Vasser, MI, Dru J. (James) Hudson of Monroe, Sherie (Clay) Readnour and Vickie (Archie Hackney) Hacker of Caro, his sister Marion Combs of Lakeside, CA, 12 cherished grandchildren; Leeann, Holli, John, Lisa, Sarah, Jennifer, Timothy, Tyler, Brennen, Austin, Brian, and Tina and 11 treasured great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents Frenchie was preceded in death by a sister Joann Kloster. Visitation for Frenchie will be held on Friday from 11:00 AM until funeral services celebrating his life at 3:00 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home. The Rev. Darlene Kuenzli Chaplain for Hartland Hospice will officiate. Interment services will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park where the VFW Post 1138 will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to Hartland Hospice, 1171 S. Van Dyke, Bad Ax, MI 48413 or to the Alzheimer's Association.
