Obituary

Olive M. Lipp, 86, of Monroe, died on Friday, February 8, 2008 at Medilodge of Monroe. Born on September 29, 1921 in Newport, MI, she was the daughter of Henry and Velma (Deck) Pfennig. A life member of Zion Lutheran Church baptized as an infant and confirmed in 1935, she married William Lipp on June 28, 1941 at Zion Lutheran Church. They adopted their two children, Debbie and Doug, from Lutheran Children's Friend's Society. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends in June 1991. She served on the Ladies Aid Society, cooked and served many hot lunches for the children of Zion Lutheran School, and prepared many banquets held there. She was employed by JC Penney and the Auto Equipment-Woodall Industries. A volunteer for Mercy Memorial Hospital Guild, and often worked in the hospital gift shop. She also was a cook at the Lutheran Home of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lipp in June 1996, parents, and a brother, Edwin Pfennig of Florida. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Debbie (Phillip) Weber of Phoenix, AZ, a son, Douglas Lipp of Brighton, MI, a sister, Mildred Hughes of Monroe, four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She will be missed by all. Friends may call at the Bacarella Funeral Home on Saturday from 5-8 PM and Sunday from 1-8 PM. She will lie in sate on Monday at Zion Lutheran Church from 10 AM until services at 11 AM. Rev. Gary Tryggestad will officiate and burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial gifts in her name may be given to Zion Lutheran Church.
