Odessa E. Nickles, 96 years of Monroe, MI, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 5:32 AM in the Lutheran Home. Odessa was born May 18, 1911 in Bono, OH the daughter of the late Gilbert and Adelaide (Newman) Drewyor. On December 7, 1928 Odessa married Frank J. Nickles in Monroe. Sadly he preceded her in death on April 12, 1972. Odessa was employed by Monroe Auto Equipment Company as an assembler from 1942 until her retirement in 1967. She was also a homemaker. Odessa was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe. Odessa enjoyed being with her family, cooking, canning, baking, quilting, knitting and crocheting. Odessa is survived by her 5 loving daughters, Velma Haynes of Livonia, MI, Elma (Harry) Collum of Monroe, MI, Kathryn (Richard) Dreier of Woodville, OH, Shirley (Richard) Sommers of Monroe, MI, and Rosemary (Robert) Bezeau of Mt. Clemens, MI, a sister Loretta LaFountain of Martin, MI. 25 cherished grandchildren, 56 cherished great grandchildren, 27 cherished great great grandchildren and 2 cherished great great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents Odessa was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 4 sisters and 2 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home where a rosary service will be held at 6 PM. On Tuesday, December 4, 2007 she will lie in state at St. Anne's Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. Fr. Robert C. Mossett pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe. Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Hospice or the Lutheran Home.
