Norman J. DuVall, age 81 of Monroe, passed away Wednesday morning, June 1, 2022 in his home.
Born August 13, 1940 in Monroe, Norm was the son of the late Norman and Marjorie (Zinner) DuVall. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1958 and enlisted in the Army National Guard. He was called into active duty a few times during the six years he served, being honorably discharged in 1964.
On February 6, 1965, Norm married Antonina "Toni" M. Koszykowski at St. Cyprian Catholic Church in Riverview, MI. Together, they raised two children.
Norm was employed by Detroit Stoker in Monroe for 30 years, obtaining the position of supervisor before retiring in 1998. Afterward, he worked for Monroe Public Schools for 5 years in the custodial department.
Norm was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, was an avid Detroit Lions Football fan, enjoyed fishing and deer hunting, and had a passion for maintaining his yard and lawn.
Norm is survived by his wife of 57 years, Toni DuVall; daughter, Christine Notario of Monroe; brother, Michael DuVall of Florida; sister, Jo Fargo of Virginia; 3 grandchildren, Andrew Notario, Abigail (Brandon Wilson) Notario, and Elizabeth Notario, all of Monroe; son-in-law, Andrew Notario of Monroe; and great-grandson, Bennett Wilson. In addition to his parents, Norm was also preceded in death by a son, Robert John DuVall and a brother, Larry DuVall.
The family will receive visitors from 4 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7 p.m. Monday, June 6th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Monroe VFW Post 1138 will offer military honors followed by Rev. Fr. David Burgard, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church. Norm's cremated remains will be interred at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to a charity of the donors choice.
