Niaomi P. (Nonie) Drake, 63, of Erie, MI died a 10:20 AM, Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in The Toledo Hospital. She had been in poor health for 3 years and seriously ill for 3 months. She was born April 21, 1943 in Omaha, NB to Raymond and Phyllis (Welch) Valien. A 1962 graduate of Tech High School, Omaha, she married Dennis L. Drake on November 2, 1973 in Omaha. They moved to Monroe in 1978 from Nebraska. Nonie was primarily a homemaker, but at one time she worked as a crossing guard at 6th and Monroe Streets, she also enjoyed doing craftwork and scrap booking. She is survived by her husband, a son, John (Wendy) of Erie, a daughter, Amanda (Lance) Kaltenbaugh of Ashland, OH, a sister, Elizabeth Bruning of Springfield, NB, and 3 grandchildren. Sadly, her parents and a brother, Raymond Valien Jr. preceded her in death. There will be no visitation or services at this time. A memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts in her name may be given to the American Lung Association.
