Mollie R. Green, 92 years, of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
Born April 6, 1930 in Tazewell, Tennessee, Mollie was the daughter of the late Doc and Gertrude J. (Turner) Rice.
On March 2, 1946 Mollie married her beloved husband, Dana Green, in Middlesboro, KY. The couple moved to Monroe on November 2, 1952. Sadly, Dana preceded her in death on October 3, 2010 after 64 years of marriage.
Mollie was the last surviving charter member of Union Street Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed baking. She was well known for her chocolate pie and her brownies. She also enjoyed attending church and traveling. Most of all Mollie enjoyed time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.
Mollie is survived by her loving daughter and son in law, Karen L. and Edwin Rice of Monroe, four cherished grandchildren: Jason (Mandy) Lands,
Jessica Green, Benjamin Rice, and Adam Rice, ten treasured great grandchildren: Austin, Janessa, Melaina, Janae, Aubree, Addison, Judah, Indie, Major, and Blu, and two adored great grandchildren: Ellie and Jaxon.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mollie was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth, a daughter and son in law, Linda and Roger Lands, two grandchildren and 9 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-7 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161. On Tuesday, April 11, 2023 she will lie in state at Union Street Missionary Baptist Church beginning at 12 noon, where funeral services celebrating her life will start at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Joe Bryant, pastor, and her grandson, Rev. Jason Lands will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
