Miriam Anna Eleanor Bunge, age 94, of Monroe passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Beaumont Hospital, Trenton, MI.
Born May 14, 1928 in Atwater, MN, Miriam was the daughter of the late Henry and Alvina (Senechal) Honebrink. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Atwater on May 27, 1928. Miriam married Harold Otto Bunge on July 10, 1955. Harold preceded Miriam in death on February 7, 2012.
Miriam was an active member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, baking pies with the Ladies Aid and actively supporting Harold in his role as teacher and principal. She served as president of the local branch of Aid Association For Lutherans, visited shut ins in the community and at the Lutheran Home and was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the American Red Cross. Miriam loved to talk to people; she always had a kind word and a story to share.
Miriam is survived by four sons: Jonathan (JoAnne) Bunge of Monroe, David (Kathie) Bunge of Midland, Mark (Nancy) Bunge of Dearborn, and James (Linda) Bunge of Fort Mill, SC; sister-in-law, Sondra Honebrink of Edina, MN; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great- grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Miriam was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Roger Honebrink, and a sister, Doris Honebrink.
Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Miriam will lie in state at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church where services will begin at 11 a.m. The church pastor, Rev. Lee Cullen will officiate followed by burial at Gethsemane Cemetery.
