Milton A. Netter Jr., 86 years, of Monroe, MI passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009 in Mercy Memorial Hospital. Milton was born April 24, 1923 in Toledo, OH the son of the late Milton A. and Theresa (Bartelle) Netter Sr. Milton was a 1941 graduate of DeVilbiss High School. He went on to attend the University of Michigan where he received his BSE (ME), MSE (ME) and his PHD (IE). He later received his JD in Law from the University of Toledo. Milton proudly served his country during WWII as an Electronic Technicians Mate 3rd class in the US Navy serving from 1943-1946. On July 21, 1951 Milton married his beloved wife the former Allien Wuest in Monroe. Milton began working at the University of Toledo as an Instructor of Engineering Mechanics. He then advanced to Professor and then Chairman of the Industrial Engineering Department. His career at the University of Toledo spanned 48 years, he retired in 1986. He also worked for A. Netter and Sons, a family owned company in Toledo, producing tools, dies and stampings. A Certified Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio Milton also worked for TEMACOG projects in land use and zoning. Milton was a member of State of Ohio Bar Association, Tau Beta Pi, American Legion in Toledo, OH., Monroe Township Beach Area Advisory Committee, and the First Congregational Church in Toledo. At The University of Toledo he was a member of the Faculty Senate, Faculty Promotion and Tenure Committees of which he was a past chairman. As chairman of the Industrial Engineering Department he developed it as a stand alone ECDD Accredited program, with a staff of 7 professors. Milton's hobbies included attending his children's and grandchildren's events and activities, horseback riding and U of M football games. Milton is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Allien, 3 loving sons; Jeffry M. (Annette Poulsen) of Bogart, GA, Greggry A. (Cathleen Hackett) of Monroe and Garry A. (Jill Loy) of Toledo, OH, 7 cherished grandchildren; JJ, Joshua, Daniel, Molly, Michael, Matthew and Kelsey, and 1 sister Constance Netter of Toledo, OH. In addition to his parents Milton was preceded in death by a sister Magdalen Netter. In keeping with Mr. Netter's wishes there will no visitation or viewing and cremation will be held. The family welcomes friends to a celebration of Milton's life at the Monroe Golf and Country Club, 611 Cole Rd. in Monroe from 1- 4 PM on Sunday October 4, 2009.
