Mildred L. Dozier, 72 years, of Monroe, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 4, 2011. Mildred had been in declining health for the past year.
Born May 6, 1938 in Keokee, VA, Mildred was the daughter of the late Baxter and Susie (Shuler) Yeary.
On October 4, 1962 in Jonesville, VA, Mildred married her beloved husband Roscoe "Bulldog" Dozier Jr. Sadly he preceded her in death on May 17, 2002 after 39 years of marriage. Mildred and Roscoe moved to Monroe in 1963 to raise their family.
Mildred was a member of North Monroe Street Church of God. Mildred was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking, cleaning, ironing and gardening. She also enjoyed bingo and scratch off tickets. Nothing brought Mildred more joy than her family especially her grandchildren.
Mildred is survived by 4 loving children; David K. Dozier, Jerry Lee (Jean) Dozier, and Timothy L. (Tammy) Dozier all of Monroe and Susan (Scott) Farley of Newport, MI, 7 cherished grandchildren; Alycia Lietaert, Melissa Dozier, Jeremy Dozier, Tatum Dozier, Cheyenne Dozier, Skyler Farley and Tyler Dozier, 1 treasured great granddaughter; Alana Dozier, 2 brothers; Coy "Buster" Yeary of Pennington Gap, VA and Jackie Yeary of Monroe, 4 sisters; Cora (Frank) Howard of Mokena, IL, Ann Biggs, Shirley (Glen) Phillips and Dora (Larry) Carter all of Pennington Gap, VA and a sister in law Ethel Turner.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mildred was preceded in death by 2 brothers; David and Johnny Yeary.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM and Thursday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Rick Massingill pastor of North Monroe Street Church of God will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
