Mildred Estella (Essary) Bolton, 88, of Monroe, passed away at 6:30 AM, Saturday, June 21, 2008, at The Lutheran Home, where she had been for 4½ years. She had been in poor health for a year and seriously ill for about 3 weeks. She was born September 3, 1919 in Tazewell, TN to Edward and Cornelia (Whitaker) Essary. They moved to Monroe in 1932 from Tazewell, TN. On December 23, 1938 she married Robert P. Bolton in Claiborne County, TN. Sadly, he preceded her in death on February 12, 1977. She worked as an Area Unit Manager for Stanley Home Products for 40 years. A member of Monroe County Senior Citizens and VFW Post #1138, Monroe, Ladies Auxiliary, she enjoyed crocheting, canning, and cooking. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Robert C. and Grace Ann Bolton of Albion, MI, and 3 treasured grandchildren, Robert D. (Marie) Bolton of Spring Arbor, MI, Mandi L. Bolton of Alexandria, VA, and Susan E. Bolton of Naperville, IL. Three sisters, Bertha Earl, Lena Mae Hicks, and Sally Goin, and 5 brothers, John, Wade, Glen, Oscar, and James Essary, also preceded her in death. The family will greet friend at the Bacarella Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 2 PM, and burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Monroe. Rev. Earl Habecker of Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church and Rev. Richard Jewett of Warren Road Free Methodist Church will officiate. Memorial gifts in her name may be given to the Monroe Free Methodist Church or the Albion Free Methodist Church.
