Michael J. Bonifacio, age 57, of Monroe, MI passed away Monday, February 9, 2009 at Mercy Memorial Hospital where he had been since Friday. Mickey was born September 21, 1951 in Monroe the son of Ennio S. "Teke" and Leona M. (Durocher) Bonifacio. Mickey attended St. Mary's Grade School and was a 1970 graduate of Monroe Catholic Central High School. He made his home in Grand Rapids, MI where he attended Aquinas College and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business. Mickey was employed as a construction worker in Grand Rapids and as a Quality Assurance Engineer for Modern Engineering in Detroit. Mickey was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he was both baptized and confirmed. Mickey is survived by his beloved mother Leona, 4 brothers; Jeffery P. (Robyn) Bonifacio of Monroe, James A. Bonifacio of Fostoria, OH, Timothy R. (Christine) Bonifacio of Petaluma, CA, and Andrew J. (Deborah) Bonifacio of Hastings, MI, 3 sisters; Mary C. (Larry) Newman of Grand Rapids, MI, Janice A. Zwaanstra of Zeeland, MI and Ann M. (Brad) Davis of Grand Haven, MI, 16 nieces and nephews and 1 great niece and 1 great nephew. Sadly he was preceded in death by his father on December 26, 2002. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place. On Friday, February 13, 2009 his family will receive friends at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe from 10:00 AM until a memorial mass celebrating his life at 11:00 AM. Fr. Marc A. Gawronski pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church will officiate. The Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
