Michael Eugene Barrett, 63, of Monroe, passed away at home on Friday, May 22, 2015.
Michael was born April 12, 1952 in Monroe, MI to Richard E. and Joyce (Mikesell) Barrett. He was a 1970 graduate of Monroe High School, and went on to earn a bachelor of Arts degree from Western Michigan University. He was employed as a school teacher in the Monroe, Shelby, MI, and Marlette, MI public school systems, and retired in 2002. Michael also enjoyed bicycling.
His survivors include his father, Richard of Ida; his wife: Carolyn (Mathamell) Barrett of Selby, MI, two daughters, Kathleen of Chicago and Jennifer of Shelby; a brother, David (Joan) Barrett of Plymouth; and sister, Ann (John) McCormick of Alameda, CA.
Sadly, his mother, on October 5, 2008, and sister, Susan, on January 14, 2010, preceded him in death.
Friends are invited to call during a memorial visitation from 1-2 PM on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 South Telegraph Road, where a memorial service to commemorate his life will be held that day at 2 PM. Rev. Evans C. Bentley, pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Monroe will officiate.
