Melvin "Buddy Boy" Pree, 73 years, of Monroe, MI went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 8:45 AM at Medilodge Nursing Facility after a lengthy battle with cancer. Melvin was born October 25, 1935 in Lewisville, AR., the son of the late McKinley and Mary Etta (Ford) Pree. Melvin was a graduate of Lewisville High School and moved to Monroe in 1954. He was employed as a Machine Operator for Ford Motor Companies Rawsonville Plant for 30 years, retiring in 1990. in 1962 he married the former Henrietta Page, sadly she preceded him in death in 1973. On July 1, 1994 he then married his beloved wife the former Beverly Chappell in Toledo, OH. Melvin was a member of Boydhill Union Baptist Church in Lewisville. In his early years, Melvin was an avid bowler and belonged to several bowling leagues. Melvin especially loved to entertain his family and friends at his home and was known for his fish fry's. He also enjoyed playing cards. Melvin will be sadly missed by his loving and caring wife of 15 years, Beverly, 1 son; Mel Dickerson of Monroe, 1 daughter; Cammie (Rasheed) Pace of Inkster, MI, 1 step daughter; Rosalind (Clifford) Boswell, 3 step sons; Anthony Jones of LaSalle and Robert and Rodney Reed both of Monroe, 14 grandchildren, 2 sisters; Emma Young and Ollie Bell McCullough both of Richmond, CA, 5 brothers; Roosevelt (Versie) Pree of Los Angeles, CA, Napoleon (Willie Mae) Pree of Lewisville, AR, John Edward Pree of Taxarkansas, AR, Tim (Beverly) Pree of Toledo, OH and Harvey Pree of Garland, AR, and a very large host of nieces and nephews and his special niece, close in his heart, Linda McFadden of Monroe. In addition to his parents and his 1st wife, Melvin was preceded in death by a twin sister Mildred McFadden, sister's Ola Mae LeGardye and Clarice Cox, a brother Herman Pree and a stepson Timothy Anderson Sr. Visitation will be held in the Bacarella Funeral Home, on Saturday, September 5, 2009 from 9:00 AM until funeral services celebrating his life at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Alfred Overstreet of Al Overstreet Evangelistic Ministries, The Rev. Jessie Locke and the Rev. Roscoe C. Belton will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Monroe. Memorial contributions maybe made to Medilodge or Carey Chapel A.M.E.
