Melody M. Freiberg, 54, of Monroe, passed away at 1:30 AM on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Harborside of Sylvania. She had been in poor health for 1 year and seriously ill since entering the nursing home 5 months ago. She was born June 9, 1953 in Wyandotte, MI to Kenneth H. and Ethel Lee (Newlon) Keller. Melody was a 1971 graduate of Kennedy High School, Taylor, MI. On August 31, 1979 she married James F. Freiberg in Wyandotte. Sadly, he preceded her in death on May 12, 2002. She was employed as a custodian at Jefferson High School from May 13, 1991 to November 4, 2004. She attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling in the Sportscenter bowling league. Survivors include her sons, James T. (Stephanie) and Jacob G. both of Monroe, daughter, Lisa M. (William) Kuttig of Ida, brother and sister, Kenneth Keller and Ethel (Ed) Heyart both of Lincoln Park, MI, and 3 grandchildren. A son, Joseph P. Freiberg, also preceded her in death. Friends may call Friday at the Bacarella Funeral Home from 1-8 PM, where services celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM Saturday. Officiating will be Rev. Evans C. Bentley of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Memorial gifts in her name may be given to the Alzheimer Association.
