With broken hearts and beautiful memories, we announce that Matthew Joseph Kopcsek, 67, embarked on his final journey on July 14, 2026. Matt passed peacefully at his home in Monroe, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Terri Lee (Farnsworth) Kopcsek.

Born in 1959 to Kathleen (Kopcsek) Tofflemire, Matt was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Vincent and Helen Kopcsek, whose guidance helped shape the man he became.

Matt was a loving father to his three daughters, Charyl Adams, Shannon Kopcsek Arntz, and Stephanie Kopcsek. Few things brought him more pride and joy than spending time with his five grandchildren: Chris Adams, Madison Adams, Tyler Cobb, Arrow Arntz, and Ember Arntz. He is also survived by his sisters, Helen, Loretta, Jill, Gina, and Sarah.

A proud Teamster, Matt was affectionately known as "Haz-Matt" and "Pack-Rat-Matt." He was quite the fisherman and handyman who loved tinkering around in his garage and somehow always had the exact tool, spare part, or piece of hardware someone needed for a project or repair. Whether fixing something himself or helping someone else, Matt found joy in being useful.

Some of his greatest joys in retirement were sharing meals with his family, target shooting, and spending time in what he fondly called the "Great North." There he found peace fishing with his grandchildren, cheering on his grandson Tyler at football games, and enjoying hunting adventures alongside his son-in-law, Russell Arntz.

Matt will be remembered for his playful spirit, resourcefulness, sense of adventure, and the pride he took in his family. His legacy lives on in the many memories created around the dinner table, in the garage, in the woods, and beside the water.

He is also remembered with love by his former sons-in-law, Eric Adams, Rob Cobb, and Phil Braden-Kopcsek.
