Mary M. Turner, 90 years, of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 6:00 AM in Fountain View of Monroe where she had been since July of 2008. Mary was born March 1, 1919 in Campbell, TN, the daughter of the late Isaac and Laura (Bolling) Orick. On January 20, 1935 in London, KY, Mary married her beloved husband Austin Turner. Sadly after 54 years of marriage, Austin preceded her in death on August 25, 1989. Mary was a faithful member of Bible Fellowship Church and a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mary is survived by her loving children; Junior Turner, Mildred (Larry) Hawkins, Hazel (Huie) Leach, Joann (Norman) Stoner and Ada Turner all of Monroe, 1 sister; Sarah Burger of Norwalk, OH, 17 cherished grandchildren, 45 treasured great grandchildren 12 treasured great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by 3 step sons; Doyle, Hoyle, and Kenneth Turner, 1 grandson; Keith Hawkins, 1 sister Elizabeth Walden and 4 brothers; Ed, Sherman, Paul and Vic Orick. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM and on Thursday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe. On Friday, January 8, 2010 she will lie in state at Bible Fellowship Church from 10:00 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Eugene White pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggested to Bible Fellowship Church.
