Mary Jane Nowlin, 61, of Azalia, died at 12:10 PM, Thursday, October 12, 2006 at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. She had been in poor health since 2003 and seriously ill since entering the hospital 3 days before. She was born October 13, 1944 in Ypsilanti, MI to James and Mary Jane (Seegert) Engel, a lifetime resident of Azalia, she was a 1962 graduate of Milan High School. In 1973 she was married to Robert L. Nowlin in Milan. Mary Jane was employed for 20 years by the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital as a patient representative retiring in 1984. She enjoyed playing bingo, but most importantly she was a loving, devoted wife, mother, and aunt. Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Dawn Marie Nowlin of Warner, GA, brother, James (Carolyn) Engel of Milan, and sister, Maria (Kurt) Dietrich of Britton. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Walter and Timothy Engel. Friends may call 1-8 PM Sunday at the Bacarella Funeral Home where services celebrating her life will be held at 1 PM Monday. Fr. Aaron DePeyster of St. Mary Catholic Church, Monroe will officiate and burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe. Memorial gifts in her name may be given to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
