Mary E. Nichol, age 77, of Carleton, MI passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 11:30 AM at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, MI after a short illness. Mary was born September 5, 1931 in Magoffin County, KY the daughter of the late Charlie and Flora (Blanton) Cantrell Sr. On June 5, 1950 Mary married Albert E. Nichol Sr. in Magoffin County. Sadly he preceded her in death on March 24, 1992. The couple moved to this area in the 1960's. A homemaker, Mary enjoyed walking, traveling down south and spending time with her family. Mary is survived by 6 loving children; Danny A. Nichol of Beaverton, MI, Albert E. (Mary) Nichol Jr. of Inez, KY, Jimmy D. (Cammy) Nichol of spring Arbor, MI, Sharion K. (David) Hunt of Carleton, Carolyn Nichol of Carleton, and Maryann (Dale) Robideau of Trenton, MI, 5 brothers; Donald (Edna Carol), Gene (Rita), Glen (Pauline), Gerry and Joe Cantrell all of KY, 3 sisters; Sue (James) Borders of CA, Lou (Gayle) Salyers and Margaret Cantrell both of KY, 16 cherished grandchildren and many treasured great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents Mary was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Eddie, Hillous and Charlie Cantrell Jr. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2008 from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI. Mary will then be taken to Salyersville Funeral Home in Salyersville, KY where visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 PM. Funeral services celebrating Mary's life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Salyersville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cantrell Cemetery in Tick-Lick, KY.
