Obituary

Mary Will McKay, 90 years, of Monroe, MI passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, MI.
Born August 12, 1920 in Shawmut, AL, Mary was the daughter of the late James Albert and Clydie Mae (Ballentine) Hethcox. Educated in Tallassee, AL, Mary was a graduate of Tallassee High School.
On May 24, 1941 Mary married her beloved husband Uriel "Mac" McKay in Tallassee. Sadly he preceded her in death on March 22, 2003 after 61 years of marriage.
Mary and Mac moved to Monroe on 1955 to raise their family. For 12 years Mary worked at Hi-Lite Super Market in Monroe.
Mary was a very active member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Monroe. Mary enjoyed reading, gardening and all types of crafts. Most of all Mary enjoyed spending time with her grand and great grandchildren; she went as far as to make a scrapbook for each of them, a task that brought her much joy in life.
Mary is survived by 2 loving children; Uriel (Bud) Wright (Sally) McKay Jr. of Gross Ile, MI and Verma Ann Boss of Monroe, 7 cherished grandchildren; Beth (Tim) Addis, Susan (Craig) Miller, Michael Boss, Scott Boss, Robert (Kelly) McKay, Richard McKay, and Andy (Anne) McKay, 14 treasured great grandchildren, a brother John Earl (Jean Clare) Hethcox of Tallassee, AL, 2 sisters; Nancy Reynolds of Tallassee, AL and Rebecca Ingram of Tampa, FL. In addition to her husband Mac and her parents, Mary was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2011 in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe, from 5:00 PM until funeral services celebrating her life at 7:00 PM. The Rev. William Kreichbaum, pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church will officiate. She will then be taken to Jeffcoat Funeral Home in Tallassee, AL where funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 6:00 PM. Interment will take place at Rosehill Cemetery also in Tallassee.
