Mary E. Malters, age 81 of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Wellspring Lutheran Home.
Born April 3, 1943 in New Tazewell, TN, Mary was the daughter of the late Charley and Myrtle (Harmon) Wylie. She graduated from Ida High School in 1961 and later married Thomas W. Malters on December 15, 1978 in Monroe.
Mary was employed by Jones Transfer in Monroe for 30 years. After retiring she went to work for Walmart as a clerk.
Mary was passionate about her faith and attending Sunday services at Bible Fellowship Church. She was known as the family historian and a devoted caregiver to her parents. She enjoyed many hobbies to keep her busy: sewing, crocheting, quilt making, traveling, shopping, and playing bingo.
Mary is survived by husband, Thomas Malters; two brothers, Paul (Wanda) Wylie of Frankfurt, IN and Charles "Ed" (Connie) Wylie of Temperance, MI; and several loving nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by two brothers, Shelby Gilbert Wylie and Robert Henry Wylie; six sisters: Kittie Mae Atkins, Anna Bea Bowman, Lillian Jones, Betty Jean Mallicoat, Naomi Ruth Loveday, and Edna Poore.
Family and friends may visit from 11 a.m. until time of funeral at 2 p.m. Monday, Mar. 17th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Rev. Phil Wylie and Rev. J.D. Walker will officiate followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
