Mary Ann Calloway, 88 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio.
Born December 4, 1936 in Monroe, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Dadagon C. and Agnes Y. (Borovich) Carr. Mary Ann was a 1954 graduate of Monroe High School and attended Monroe County Community College.
While working at the Monroe Evening News, Mary Ann met the love of her life, James E. Calloway. On June 18, 1960 they married in Toledo, OH. Sadly, Jim preceded her in death on October 16, 2008 after 48 years of marriage.
In addition to working at the newspaper, Mary Ann worked at Kiddie Corner Nursery and Day Care Center, and as a special education teacher's aide at Monroe County ISD for 15 years. She retired from the ISD in 1998. She was also a wonderful homemaker.
Mary Ann was a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church and attended Lambertville Community Church. She was also a member of the Monroe Art League and was a member and past president of the Monroe County Thrift Shop Association. She enjoyed all types of crafts, especially painting. Most of all Mary enjoyed time spent will family.
Mary Ann is survived by two loving daughters: Jennifer J. (Thomas) Caligiuri of Allen, TX and Sharon K. (George) Barath of Monroe, a loving stepson, Thomas J. (Linda) Calloway of Temperance, three cherished grandchildren, two treasured great grandchildren, and three siblings: John (Sue) Carr of Monroe, Debbie Mosingo of Monroe and Mark Carr of South Carolina.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Barath, three brothers and a sister.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Humane Society of Monroe County.
In keeping with Mary Ann's wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral services, and she will be interred next to her husband at Roselawn Memorial Park.
