Obituary

Marlin C. Cotter, age 96, of Seminary, Mississippi, formerly of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in his home.
Marlin was born June 1, 1926 in Clay, Kentucky, he was the son of Ray and Virginia Harriet (Blackwelder) Cotter. He married Lorraine Hensley in Angola Indiana.
He served his country during World War II in the US Army from August 5, 1944 to August 5, 1946.
Marlin worked at Consolidated Paper Southside for many years and then at Monsanto Chemical in Trenton retiring June 1, 1990. After his retirement he moved to Seminary, where he currently made his home with his daughter Marlene.
Marlin was a man of God, who lived for the Lord and loved Him with all his heart. He gave his time freely to the church fulfilling what ever need there might be and he loved to read the Bible. While living in Monroe he was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. After moving to Seminary, he became a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, janitor, steward, maintenance man and during vacation Bible school he was known as the cookie and kool aide man. He was also instrumental in getting the addition on the church and remodeling the church's nursery.
He is survived by his four children, Luther Ray (Zach Woodruff) Cotter of Monroe, Marlene Cotter of Seminary, Jeffrey Cotter and Robert Cotter; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Julie Sulfaro; three brothers and three sisters.
In accordance with Marlin's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
