Mark Mongeon

Mark Edward Mongeon, 59, of Jacksonville, Fla. died unexpectedly Saturday, November 24, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 9, 1953 in Monroe, MI, Mark was the son of the late Edward and Mary Barbara (Castellese) Mongeon. Mark grew up in Monroe and Flint, and later moved to Jacksonville Fla., but he always considered Monroe his home. Mark graduated from Luke M. Powers Catholic High School, in Flint Mi. in 1971 where he earned his Varsity letter in tennis. He attended Ferris State College where he was a member of the tennis team. After years in restaurant management, his kind and generous spirit led him to a successful career as a personal chauffeur, giving him the opportunity to meet all kinds of incredible people, including celebrities, sports figures, musicians, and politicians. He often said he should have written a book. Mark was a third degree black belt under the United House of Karate. He was a proud member of the North Florida Martial Arts Association for over 20 years. He loved camping, fishing and the beach. He was an avid tennis player for over 50 years. He cherished spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. And he loved University of Michigan football! Mark was known to all as a most honorable and generous man. He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Mark was preceded in death by his brother Patrick, and his parents, Edward and Mary Barbara Mongeon. He is survived by his loving wife, Pam, children, Meesha (Kevin) Tatar Joseph Mongeon, Meredith (Chad) Walker, Dustin (Sheree) Anderson, Joe (Britney) Anderson, Jason (Heidi) Anderson, grandchildren Alexander, Paisley, Joe, Ty, Rylee, Anslee, Haley, Makenzie, Gabby and Dallas. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, best friend and brother Kevin Mongeon of Jacksonville Florida, brother Edward Mongeon of Monroe, sisters, Nanette (David) Labardee of Waterville Ohio, Milissa (Matthew) Levesque of Monroe, sister in law Eleanor Mongeon of Chandler , Arizona, niece, Therese Mongeon, nephews, John and Nicholas Labardee, Kevin Mongeon and Anthony, Dominic, and Matthew Levesque. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012 from 4-8pm in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 South Telegraph Rd in Monroe where a scripture service will be held Monday at 6pm. On Tuesday he will lie in state at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Monroe at 9:30am until Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30am. Father Marc Gawronski will officiate. Intement will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
