Mark A. Kush, age 71, of Newport, passed away Thursday January 2, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family.
Mark was born December 21, 1953 in Monroe, he was the son of Albert and Lorine (Liedel) Kush. He married Gayle M. Metdepenningen September 27th, 1974 at St. Anne Church, Monroe.
He was a 1972 graduate of Monroe Catholic Central High School. Mark was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus. He was a long time collector of classic cars and a member of Studebaker Drivers Club Western Lake Erie Chapter since 1994, where he served as past president and editor of the newsletter. Mark had a passion for music; especially playing the guitar and had played in several bands through the years.
Mark began working at Ford Motor Company Monroe Plant in June 1972, he spent nearly 30 years there retiring in March 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gayle Kush of Newport; two children, Ryan Kush of Monroe and Nichole (Paul) Robinson of Woodhaven; two siblings, Thomas C. (Joy) Kush of Monroe and Cheryl (Lawrence) Rhodes of New Boston; six grandchildren, Joseph Boomer, Matteson Boomer, Violet Kush, Jacob Kush, Austin Robinson and Ashley (Darren) Campbell and great granddaughter, Sophia Campbell.
Visitation will be held on Sunday January 5, 2025 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe from 12 – 6 p.m. with funeral services at 5:30 p.m. Kimberly Ruiz will officiate. In accordance with Mark's wishes cremation will take place after services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Heartland Hospice of Monroe.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Denise Janus; brother-in-law, Daniel Janus; nieces Kimberly Janus and Kristine Rhodes.
