Obituary

Marjorie A. Cairl, age 74, a life long resident of Monroe, MI passed away Friday, January 2, 2009 at 1:00 AM in her home surrounded by her loving family. Marjorie had been in declining for 10 years and seriously ill for the past 3 months. Marjorie was born September 24, 1934 in Monroe, MI the daughter of the late August and Mable (Brancheau) Diehl. Marjorie attended St. Mary's Schools and was a former member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Newport. On September 30, 1950 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Monroe, Marjorie married her beloved husband James F. Cairl. Sadly he preceded her in death on August 28, 1990. A homemaker, Marjorie enjoyed traveling and trips to the casino. Marjorie also enjoyed bowling. She bowled for the Diamond's Men's Wear Team at one time. Marjorie's greatest love was that of family, especially spending time with, and spoiling her grandchildren. Marjorie is survived by her loving children Mary E. and Timothy McLeod of Monroe and Nancy A. Cairl whom she lived with, her treasured grandchildren Joshua and Marisa McLeod of Toledo, OH and Elizabeth McLeod of Hickory, NC a sister Mildred Bennett of Flat Rock, MI and her two precious dogs Halo and Angel. In addition to her husband and parents Marjorie was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Alvin Diehl, Chester Diehl, Clayton Diehl and Leroy Diehl, and 5 sisters; Violet Everett, Rosella Cole, Lois Jean Massingill, Martha Griffith and Joyce Bieganski. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd in Monroe, where a scripture service will be held at 5:00 PM. On Monday, January 5, 2009 she will lie in state at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 10:00 AM. Fr. Marc Gawronski pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the American Heart Association.
