Marion Eugene "Gene" Boling, Jr., age 68 of Monroe, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024 in his home.
Gene was born August 26, 1956 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Marion Eugene Boling Sr. and Harriette Smerker. He married Linda S. Kelly December 17, 1977.
He was a graduate of Worden High School, Worden, IL and earned his bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University.
Gene was an engineering executive in the automotive industry, working most of his career for Manga International until his retirement in August 2020.
Gene was an outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing, spending time in nature, and feeding birds and squirrels. He was a fan of sports and music, and he found delight in grilling and gardening. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather that appreciated spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Boling of Monroe; two daughters, Stephanie Boling and her significant other David Moore of Cheboygan, MI and Daniella Boling and her husband Andrew Poore of Toledo, Ohio; a grandson, Wesley Poore; three siblings, Marty (Margie) Boling of Nashville, IL, Beth (Joe) Mattingly of Sparta, IL and Christopher Heiple of Coulterville, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Shirley Kelly.
In accordance with Gene's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family.
