Obituary

Marilyn Cawood, 60, of Monroe, passed away peacefully, in her home, surrounded by her loving family, at 12:41 PM, Friday, May 16, 2008. She had been in poor health for a year and seriously ill for 9 months. She was born on March 14, 1948 in Youngstown, OH to George and Dolores (DeBartolo) McCaffrey. She received a teaching degree from St. Mary's College, Erie, PA, and came to Monroe in the 1970's from Youngstown, OH. On June 5, 2004, she married Jerry Ray Cawood in Ann Arbor. Known as "Miss Droz", she was employed by Monroe Public Schools teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at Lincoln Elementary School for 12 years, retiring in 2005. Marilyn enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, loved animals, playing golf, was an avid reader, and especially traveling, she enjoyed fishing and snorkeling in her vacations. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, parents, and daughter, Kristen Drozdowicz all of Monroe, her quadruplets, Jay Martin Drozdowicz of Battle Creek, Joel Drozdowicz of Naples, FL, Erin Drozdowicz of Royal Oak, and Holly Drozdowicz of Columbus, OH, stepdaughters, Mona (Matt) Saul of Monroe and Julia (Jason) Caudill of Knoxville, TN, and 3 grandchildren. The family will greet friends at the Bacarella Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-8 PM, where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Monday at 11 AM. Fr. William Fisher, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroe will officiate, and burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Memorial gifts in her name may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church and/or it's food bank.
